together with Mr. Abu Mahdy Sulaiman Hamanaka in the year of 1981.
The Muslim population in Matsuyama is growing
every year, both from the population of Japanese Muslims and Muslim from
various countries. The current Muslim population is about 500 people. One of
the main reasons for population growth is the study opportunities promoted by
Ehime University due to the many Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
collaborations with foreign universities from Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh,
etc. In addition, mixed or interfaith marriages between Muslims and Japanese also
contributed to this population growth. There are also some Muslims from abroad
who come here to work.
